Catherine Norman McKeithan Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1983 by Marcella Folley McKeithen, of Aberdeen, in loving memory of her granddaughter, Catherine Norman McKeithen, who died in 1982.

Whenever a grandchild was born, Mrs. McKeithen planted a dogwood tree in her yard and had a bronze plaque attached to the trunk with the child’s name and birth date. Every fall, she would gather leaves from the children’s trees, press them and mail them to each grandchild.

Marcella McKeithen was the wife of Jere Norfleet McKeithen, and they were longtime residents and very well known in the community. She will be remembered by many for her continuing thirst for knowledge, her enthusiasm and energy in completing projects, her religious faith and her optimistic approach to life as she used her time in helping others.

The Catherine Norman McKeithan Nursing Scholarship is awarded to a second-year student enrolled full-time in Associate Degree Nursing program. Student has demonstrated financial need, and potential for success in nursing profession and has good character.
