J. C. and Jean Robbins Endowed Business Scholarship

Originally established in 1982 by J. C. and Jean Robbins as an Award for the Business Department, the Joseph C. and Jean S. Robbins Endowed Business Scholarship is awarded to a second-year Business student with a Business college transfer student preferred; if none apply, then awarded to Technical Business student. Student should have above median academic standing, outstanding personality, good character & citizenship, and aptitude for a business career.

J. C. Robbins was a local businessman and co-owner of Burney Hardware on South Street in Aberdeen. In 1963 Mr. Robbins was appointed by the Moore County Commissioners to the Charter Board of Trustees of Sandhills Community College. Mr. Robbins played an important role in helping to set up this college and in seeing it develop into one of the premier community colleges in the state. While serving his term on the local board, he also served on the State Board of Community Colleges Trustees and as its president during the last year of his tenure.
