The Southern Pines Civic Club

The Southern Pines Civic Club

The Southern Pines Civic Club was founded in 1907 by a group of civic minded ladies to improve life in Southern Pines, foster love for our beautiful community, educate our children in good citizenship and to welcome visitors and newcomers, enlisting their efforts in a mutual goal of making Southern Pines a wonderful place to be. The Civic Club clubhouse, built in 1925, is listed on the National Register of Historic places.

Political awareness, education, beautification and the welfare of others are among the enrichments with which the Southern Pines Civic Club has enhanced community life for 110 years. Club concerns stretch from one end of the county to the other and financial support has been provided to rescue squads, libraries, camps, Sandhills Community College and other deserving groups. As community needs have changed, the club’s response has broadened to include the Arts Council of Moore County, Moore County Historical Association, Weymouth, Friend-to-Friend, Empty Stocking and scholarships at Pinecrest and Sandhills Community College.

The members meet monthly October through May on the first Monday of the month at 105 S. Ashe Street.
