Max H. Muse Memorial Scholarship
Max was a devoted member of the Carthage Rescue Squad from the age of 16 and served Moore County as a volunteer EMT for 48 years. For many Moore County Residents, Max was the face of the Carthage Rescue Squad. Max received his EMT and Nursing Training at Sandhills Community College then worked as a nurse at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for 35 years. He became North Carolina’s first RN Medical Examiner and served Moore County for 15 years. Max’s passion for emergency medicine and nursing was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Impact
Selection Criteria: 1) Award to a deserving student enrolled full time in the Emergency Medical Science Program at SCC; 2) Selection based on financial need, merit and potential for success; 3) Scholarship may be awarded for a second year if student continues to meet scholarship criteria.
